Identify the application
Volvo model families and your original read
A Volvo model or powertrain badge is not a controller-level compatibility check. Hybrid and electric systems require their own explicit scope assessment.
What matters for a Volvo file request
Record the complete powertrain, including whether the vehicle has a hybrid system.
Explain regular loads, towing and long-distance use when describing the customer's objective.
Keep passenger-car requests distinct from Volvo Trucks work and identify any gearbox enquiry separately.
Prepare these details before uploading
- Provide model year, full derivative, engine and transmission specification.
- Attach the original ECU read and software identification from the tool.
- Mention prior dealer updates, tuning and any unresolved drivability issues.
Use the original-file checklist for the complete upload workflow.
Choose the service after confirming compatibility
Stage 1 1 credit
A request based on the vehicle’s standard hardware. Describe its condition and software before the file is prepared.
Stage 2 2 credits
A request matched to declared hardware modifications. Supply the full setup and agree the requirements first.
Compatible options are included with a stage file. Standalone options cost 0.5 credit each. Output gains and exact support depend on the specific vehicle; there is no fixed increase promised for a model name.
Questions before you upload
Does this Volvo page cover trucks?
This guide is for Volvo passenger-car enquiries. Use the Volvo Trucks guide for a commercial truck and provide the truck-specific engine, controller and operating details rather than selecting a passenger-car equivalent.
Can I request a Volvo setup for towing?
Describe the normal load, trailer use, transmission and intended driving conditions with the original file. A tuning request does not change the vehicle's approved towing capacity, and no model-wide result is promised.
