File service
frequently asked questions

What to prepare, how credits work and where to find your completed files. For a particular vehicle or software version, contact us with the details before ordering.

01Files & delivery

What is a chiptuning file service?

A file service prepares an ECU or TCU calibration from a file supplied by a workshop. The workshop reads the vehicle, sends the original file and requirements, then writes the returned file with suitable equipment. Fileservice Chiptuning manually prepares each file; the service is delivered through your online account.

How long does file preparation take?

Preparation time depends on the ECU or TCU, software version, hardware and requested changes. Files are manually prepared. Your dashboard shows pending, in-progress and completed requests, and an email links to your account when the file is ready. Contact us before submitting if your job has a specific deadline.

What information should I include with my original file?

Include the vehicle make, model, generation, engine and ECU details, the reading tool and method, the original file, and the services you want. Describe any hardware changes, fuel requirements, existing faults and previous tuning. If you are unsure about file compatibility, ask before ordering.

Can I use my existing reading and writing tool?

Compatibility depends on the vehicle, ECU or TCU, software version, tool protocol and the file format it produces. Send the tool name and read method when checking a request. Encrypted or restricted files may need a particular tool or account arrangement; a listed vehicle is not a guarantee that every reading method is supported.

How do I download a completed tuning file?

Sign in and open the completed request in your Files page. The download and any completion notes are available there. The completion email also contains a link to that request. Before writing, confirm that the file matches the vehicle and follow the tool manufacturer's checksum and programming instructions.

What if I need help with a delivered file?

Open a support ticket with the file request number, vehicle details, the exact symptoms and any relevant logs or diagnostic results. You can attach supporting files and keep the replies together in the portal. See the published refund policy for information about refunds.

02Credits & pricing

When are credits deducted?

The selected service cost is shown before you submit. Credits are deducted when the new file request is successfully submitted, and the transaction appears in your credit history. Make sure your balance covers the services you select.

How many credits do Stage 1, Stage 2 and standalone options cost?

Stage 1 costs 1 credit and Stage 2 costs 2 credits. Selected, compatible additional options are included in the same file request with either stage. Without a stage tune, each selected standalone option costs 0.5 credit. Two standalone options therefore cost 1 credit.

How do I buy credits?

Choose a credit package on the pricing page or in your dashboard. If you are not signed in, create an account or sign in first. Continue to the Mollie checkout; after a successful payment, your credits are added automatically and you return to your dashboard.

Will I receive an invoice?

A successful credit purchase produces a PDF invoice. It is sent to your email address and appears in your dashboard, where you can view the details and download it again. Check that your company and billing details are correct before payment.

Do the displayed prices include VAT?

The public pricing page shows prices excluding VAT. The checkout calculates any applicable VAT from your billing details and displays the total before you pay. Provide complete company, country and VAT details where applicable; your invoice records the treatment applied to that purchase.

Do credits expire?

Your unused credits remain on your account until you use them. You can check the available balance and transaction history in your dashboard.

03Choosing a service

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?

Stage 1 generally refers to tuning for the existing hardware setup. Stage 2 is intended for requests involving supporting hardware changes. These names are not universal technical standards: provide the actual parts, engine details and intended use so the request can be assessed correctly.

Can you guarantee a particular power increase?

Power and torque outcomes depend on the engine, hardware, fuel, mechanical condition, software and testing conditions. A stage label alone cannot establish a reliable gain. Discuss specific targets before ordering and validate the vehicle after writing the file.

Are gearbox files available?

You can request TCU or gearbox calibration work. Provide the transmission type, control-unit and software details, reading tool and current engine setup. Availability and the changes that can be made depend on the particular gearbox and file.

How should I assess emissions-related options?

First establish whether the requested modification is lawful for the vehicle's intended use and location. An option appearing in the catalogue does not establish road legality or technical suitability. Tell us the application and relevant details before making an emissions-related request.

04Account & support

Who can create an account?

The portal is designed for professional workshops and tuning businesses. Registration is automatic and does not require manual administrator approval. After creating your account, sign in, complete your billing details and buy credits to submit a file.

How do support updates work?

Create a ticket in your account and add your question and relevant attachments. The customer and administrator receive email notifications when a ticket is created or a reply is added. Each email links to the conversation, and signing in brings you back to the relevant thread.

Can anyone download my submitted files?

File downloads require authentication and are restricted to the account that owns the request and authorised administrators. Keep your account credentials private. Your dashboard contains your own requests, downloads, support tickets and invoices.
